International Student Services

Mission Statement 

  • Directly supports and implements "International Awareness" on campus
  • Makes Baldwin-Wallace College more comfortable and hospitable for international students and scholars
  • Creates linkages between international students and U.S. students for the purpose of assisting both populations in broadening their understanding of each other.

Position Description

The Graduate Assistant is a member of the Student Affairs staff at Baldwin-Wallace College and reports to the Director of International Student Services.  The Graduate Assistant is responsible for implementing the goals of the International Student Services office and working toward achieving its mission of planning, implementing and promoting international student services and programs throughout the academic calendar.  Further the Graduate Assistant will play a significant role in the promotion and development of leadership opportunities for Baldwin-Wallace students as well as address global issues in a variety of creative, challenging, and meaningful ways that will be of benefit to the entire B-W community.  The responsibility of a Graduate Assistant also includes serving in the capacity of programming resource person and administrator.

General Responsibilities 

  • Work with International Student Ambassadors to assist international students with their acclimation and transition to Baldwin-Wallace College
  • Plan, implement, and promote international support services and programs for the entire B-W community throughout the year
  • Provide and further develop resources for international students.
  • Assess impact of sponsored programs and make changes/adjustments as deemed necessary to help ensure good quality product
  • Teach in and out of the classroom

Additional Responsibilities 

  • Help with the International Student Orientations throughout the year
  • Serve as a positive role model for students and ambassadors
  • Represent the International Student Services office in a positive, professional manner at all times
  • Serve as a liaison to the surrounding community for ongoing promotion of programs open to the public
  • Meet regularly with supervisor
  • Meet regularly with the Student Affairs staff
  • Attend on-going staff development and training
  • Support other programs (when possible) sponsored by other departments within the Student Affairs division and beyond
  • Maintain project binder(s) as a reference tool
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Work 12.5 hours a week in the International Student Services Office
