Greek Life

Mission Statement

The mission of Greek Life at Baldwin-Wallace is to encourage the growth and development of Baldwin-Wallace students by providing opportunities for leadership development, scholarship, friendship, service, and fun through membership and involvement in Greek organizations.

Position Description 

The Greek Life Graduate Assistant is a member of the Student Affairs Staff of Baldwin-Wallace College and reports to the Director of Greek Life.  There are two Graduate Assistants, an Office Manager, and Director working in the Greek Life Office.  The Graduate Assistant is responsible for implementing the goals of the Greek Life Office and working toward achieving the Greek Life mission of providing leadership development, support, and resources for members of Greek organizations.  The role of the Graduate Assistant includes the role of advisor, programmer, mentor, resource person, and administrator.

General Responsibilities 

  • Serve as a positive role model for students
  • Promote the ideals of Greek life including scholarship, leadership, social responsibility, service, and sisterhood/brotherhood
  • Support campus Greek chapters and organizations
  • Teach in and out of the classroom

Advisory Responsibilities 

  • Advise and/or co- advise one or more Greek organizations (including, but not limited to:  Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, Greek Council, Greek Leadership Institute, Order of Omega and New Member Greek Board).   Meet weekly with officers of the assigned organization(s)
  • Attend executive board meetings, council meetings, and events of the organization(s)
  • Set goals with the organization’s members
  • Train executive board
  • Provide leadership development and teambuilding for organization members
  • Maintain constant communication including follow-up and feedback with organization members

Administrative duties

  • Assist other Greek Life staff members with their project
  • Attend various Greek Life events
  • Attend weekly Greek Life staff meetings
  • Meet regularly with supervisor
  • Attend on going staff development and training
  • Maintain project binder(s) as a reference tool
  • Provide a written end of semester report and maintain current records of events.
  • Work 15 hours a week in the Greek Life Office
