Mission Statement
The mission of Student Activities is to promote involvement in campus clubs and organizations and to provide leadership development opportunities.
Student Activities is part of the Student Life Center that also includes Greek Life and Center for Alcohol and Related-issues Education. The SLC mission is to encourage the growth and development of Baldwin-Wallace students by providing opportunities for involvement, leadership, fun and success through leadership retreats, clubs and organizations.
Position Description
The Student Activities Graduate Assistant is a member of the Student Affairs Staff of Baldwin-Wallace College and reports to the Director of Student Activities. There is one full-time Graduate Assistant, one part-time Graduate Assistant and the Director working in the Student Activities Office. Graduate Assistants are responsible for implementing the goals and achieving the mission of the Student Activities Office and Student Life Center. The role of the Graduate Assistant includes the role of advisor, programmer, role model, resource person, and administrator.
General Responsibilities
- Serve as a positive role model for students.
- Promote involvement in student activities, clubs, and organizations.
- Provide leadership development opportunities.
Advisory Responsibilities
- Advise student organization(s) including Campus Entertainment Productions, Grindstone Yearbook, Emerging Leaders Retreat, and the Night On The Town (N.O.T.T.) program.
- Meet weekly with officers of assigned organization(s).
- Attend meetings and events of organization(s).
- Set goals with the organizational members.
- Train executive board.
- Provide leadership development and teambuilding for organization members.
- Meet regularly with student organization(s) President and Treasurer.
- Maintain constant communication including follow-up and feedback with organization members.
- Design and implement assessment tools for organization members and events.
- Keep Student Activities Staff informed of the organizations’ activities.
Programming Responsibilities
- Work closely with student organizations' programming efforts.
- Provide resources regarding programming.
- Assist with campus-wide programming effort(s) including Leadership Programming, Weekend Programming, Homecoming Evening Event, and April Reign.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Attend weekly Student Activities staff meetings.
- Meet regularly with supervisor.
- Attend on going staff development and training.
- Maintain project binder(s) as a reference tool.
- Meet each semester with supervisor for job performance evaluation.
- Provide a written end of semester report and maintain current records of events.
- Assist with Student Handbook revisions.
- Maintain weekly office hours.
