BEREA, OHIO -- In her second season as the varsity cheerleading coach at Baldwin-Wallace College, Sami Gougler is hoping to take her Yellow Jacket team to new heights.

"The cheerleading program has made great strides over the past three years due to the hard work of former coach Amy Hafner," said Coach Gougler, a 2005 graduate of the College.  "Last year, my first as coach, we looked forward to that challenge and continued the positive success and momentum that Amy started.

"Last season was an outstanding year for the Yellow Jacket Cheerleaders, and this year we have set a lot of goals for continued improvement, momentum and success," continued Gougler, who directs B-W’s football and men's basketball game cheer squads as well as the College's performance team.

“Two years ago we formed a competition squad and last year we were able to attend and compete at three regional events.  There was an emphasis on more challenging material while keeping in line with all of the new safety regulations. We felt it was both fun and successful."

"Between our football, basketball and competition squads, this program is filled with hard working, strong, dedicated women that make success inevitable," said Gougler.  "I feel that with the amazing talent we have, the outstanding senior leadership, and the experience in the coaching staff, this year will be filled with great success."
