Baldwin-Wallace Boilerplate

Institutional Background

Founded in 1845, Baldwin-Wallace College is an independent, coeducational college in the liberal arts tradition located in Berea, Ohio.  Baldwin-Wallace College, one of the first colleges established in Ohio to admit students without regard to race or gender, is a product of a merger in 1913 between Baldwin University and German Wallace College.

Today, B-W is a comprehensive coeducational college with a regional focus awarding five undergraduate degrees, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science in Education, Bachelor of Music, and Bachelor of Music Education, and two graduate degrees, Master of Arts in Education and the Master of Business Administration.  B-W is located in the western suburbs of Cleveland.  It currently has an enrollment of approximately 3,100 full-time undergraduate day students, 600 evening and weekend adult learners and 800 graduate students.  B-W has more than 300 full-time and part-time dedicated professors and maintains a 15:1 student/faculty ratio with an average class size of 18 students.  Nearly eighty percent of the faculty have earned doctorates or terminal degrees.

In 1995, B-W celebrated its sesquicentennial and reaffirmed its commitment to personalized education that stresses individual growth, community service and responsiveness to new ideas in a rapidly changing society.  That spirit provides the impetus for B-W’s Strategic Plan entitled, “In Pursuit of Excellence,” which was approved in Fall 2000.  The current mission statement and strategic goals developed by the Baldwin-Wallace community are designed to enhance B-W’s development in the new millennium and provide a basis for ongoing assessment of B-W’s total educational program.

A vital line in the strategic plan states: (insert the line that most directly relates to your proposal, then continue with narrative that supports your project).
