A rapidly changing world requires adaptation. At Baldwin-Wallace, new programs offer students the opportunity to pursue interests that will better prepare them for the job market or graduate school once they leave B-W.
International Business
This year the Business Division has added a new major in international business. An interdisciplinary major, the program provides students the knowledge, skills and sensitivities that enable them to understand, appreciate and work in today’s com-petitive and economy-driven global society. The major includes a study abroad component and opportunities for independent study projects and internships at renowned corporations and leading government agencies in Cleveland and nationwide.
Orthopaedic Assessment and Treatment
The Health and Physical Education Division has established a new minor in orthopaedic assessment and treatment. Recent graduates who have enrolled in the athletic training evaluation classes have reported that the course content benefited them in their physical therapy or physician assistant programs and gave them a significant advantage over their peers in the first year of physical therapy school. The minor allows students interested in the health care field to demonstrate focused coursework in the area of orthopaedics for which there is a growing interest throughout the medical field.
The athletic training education program recently has been reaccredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). According to Karen Gentile, director of the athletic training program, the B-W program was found to be in substantial compliance with the nationally recognized Standards for Entry-Level Athletic Training Education. Any students that desire to become BOC Certified Athletic Trainers must graduate from a CAATE accredited program in order to be eligible to sit for the national certification exam.
