Baldwin-Wallace Finds Room to Grow

Learn more about student housing in Hamilton House

A burgeoning on-campus population at Baldwin-Wallace has created a need for additional student housing.  With this in mind, the College has purchased Hamilton House, an apartment complex located on Front St., at the north end of the campus. The 48 units and four adjacent townhouses will house 100 students beginning fall semester, 2008.

While many students come from the Northeast Ohio area, a growing number are from out of state.

“As we attract students from farther away, we have to be able to provide them options for campus living,” said College spokesperson George Richard. “This year, 20 percent of incoming students were from outside Ohio.” Freshman and sophomore students are required to live on campus. The current full-time undergraduate enrollment is 3000 (including commuters) with a maximum of 1,808 residential spaces.

The students who live in the Hamilton House complex will be under the direct supervision of a member of the student affairs staff member who will live in the complex and function as a hall director. The apartments have been well maintained and will require only minor renovation before students arrive in the fall.
