B-W Men's and Women's Outdoor Track Teams Both Win Meet Titles at the Annual Wilmington Invitational

BEREA, OHIO -- Both the Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams won meet titles and had some impressive performances at the annual Wilmington College Invitational Meet in Wilmington on Saturday (April 5).

The Yellow Jacket women finished first of 15 schools and had 165 points. The B-W men were also first of 15 teams and had 154 points. The women had four individual titles among three competitors and the men also had four winners among three competitors and a winning relay team.

For the women, senior Jessica Textoris (Akron/ Medina Highland) had the top performance as she won the 3000 meter steeplechase in a meet, school-record and NCAA Division III national qualifying time of 10:57.54 overall. Textoris also won the 5000 meter run in 18:05.47. In addition, senior Tatum Gruskiewicz (Williamsfield/ Pymatuning Valley) won the 800 meter run in 2:19.55 and senior Sara Guba (Olmsted Falls/ Berea) won the javelin and broke her own meet record with a throw of 126-feet and four inches. In 2002, Guba set the meet mark with a throw of 125' 3".

For the men, senior Dash McNeal (Crooksville) won both the high jump (6'2") and triple jump (41' 4.25"). McNeal was joined as a winner by senior Jeff Farman (Ashtabula/ Lakeside), who won the 400 meter dash in 51.09 seconds, and junior Alex Johnson (Berea/ Olmsted Falls), who won the shot put with a throw of 46' 8.75". Johnson also placed second in the discus with a throw of 149' 4". In addition, senior Tim Budic (Eastlake North) had a solid day as he placed second in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 9:30.85 and third in the 5000 meter run in 15:26.35.

The Yellow Jacket track teams will return to action next Friday, April 11, when they travel to Delaware, Ohio to run at the annual Ohio Wesleyan University Invitational Meet. The meet is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
