B-W Women's Track Team is Second and the Men Place Third at the Annual All-Ohio Collegiate Invite

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's outdoor track and field team placed second and the men were third today at the annual All-Ohio Collegiate Invitational Meet in Columbus.

The Yellow Jacket women finished second of 18 schools and lost the team title to Otterbein by two points. It ended a streak of seven straight All-Ohio titles for the Yellow Jackets. The B-W men placed third of 18 schools and were 12.5 points shy of team champion Otterbein.

For the women, senior Jessica Textoris (Akron/ Medina Highland) won the 3000 meter steeplechase in a meet and school-record of 10:40.89 which bettered her previous NCAA Division III national qualifying time. Textoris and junior Jen Southall (Willoughby South) placed first and second. Southall was timed in 11:08.80. Textoris also placed second in the 5000 meter run in 18:31.99.

In addition, senior Tara Gruskiewicz (Williamsfield/ Pymatuning Valley) won the 800 meter run in 2:14.96, senior Lynn Katanik (Parma Padua) won the 5000 meter run in 18:28.37 with she and Textoris placing first and second, and senior Nicole Drouhard (Canfield/ Austintown Fitch) won the 10,000 meter run in 37:48.07.

Alex Johnson, Track and FieldFor the men, senior Tim Budic (Eastlake North), junior Alex Johnson (Olmsted Falls), sophomore Jon Shoffstall (Lakeview/ Indian Lake) and senior Brad Geletka (Kirtland) all placed second. Budic was second in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 9:10.60 and second in the 5000 meter run in 15:25.73. Johnson was second in the discus in 149'4" and was fourth in both the shot put (48'11") and javelin (162' 10"). Shoffstall was second in hammer with a throw of 151-feet. Geletka was second in the 10,000 meter run in 31:56.91.

The Yellow Jacket track teams will return to action next Saturday when they host the annual Baldwin-Wallace College Invitational Meet at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea. The meet is set to begin at 8:00 a.m.
