Football All-American by d3football.com
BEREA, OHIO — Baldwin-Wallace College senior defensive end Ryan Lewis (Holland/ Springfield High School) has been named as a Division III football All-American by the d3football.com Internet Web site. d3football.com is the most widely recognized source for Division III football information and is recognized as an official All-America team by the NCAA.
Lewis ended his career as one of the best defensive ends to ever wear the Brown & Gold of Baldwin-Wallace College and represented the College at the 2005 Aztec Bowl in Toluca, Mexico on December 17. The Aztec Bowl annually pits the Division III All-Stars versus the Mexican Collegiate All-Stars. In that game, Lewis had one tackle, two quarterback pressures and one deflected pass as Team USA defeated Mexico, 53-15.
Lewis is a three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference player as selected by the OAC Coaches and a two-time All-North player picked by the d3football.com selection committee. This year, Lewis earned first-team All-OAC honors and was tabbed as the OAC Paul Hoernemann Award winner, symbolic of the OAC's Most Valuable Defensive Lineman. He also earned second-team All-North Region honors this year and was a third-team pick last year.
In 2005, Lewis had 57 total tackles and 167 in his career. Lewis led the OAC with 12 quarterback sacks this year and finished second all-time in school history with 28 overall to go with 46 total tackles for lost yardage. In the classroom, Lewis, a business administration major, carries a 3.1 grade average.
