BEREA, OHIO -- TheBaldwin-Wallace College Yellow Jacket football team, 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, is ranked high in the three Division III national polls this week and prior to playing in Ada against OAC rival Ohio Northern University on Saturday (October 11) at War Memorial Stadium at 1:30 p.m.
B-W is ranked eighth by the d3football.com Internet Web site poll which is released on Sunday. The Yellow Jackets jumped three spots, from 11th to eighth following last Saturday's 36-0 shutout win of previously nationally-ranked OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University. B-W is ranked 11th this week in the AFCA (American Football Coaches Association) poll which is released on Monday. The Yellow Jackets jumped six spots in this poll as it was previously 17th prior to beating JCU. Fans should also not confuse the AFCA poll with the Division III Football Coaches Regional rankings which will take place in a few weeks. Both are totally separate polls with separate voters, and the Div. III Coaches poll is what determines the NCAA Division III National Playoff selections following games on November 15. Following its game this Saturday against Ohio Northern in Ada, B-W will return home to begin preparations for its October 18 home game versus OAC foe Wilmington College at 1:30 p.m. That day is designated as Youth Football Day, Academic All-American Day and Professor Appreciation Day.
