New York Cares Day a Success!
On Saturday, October 18, 2008 the B-W NYC Alumni Chapter participated in the New York Cares Day event! NYCares is an organization designed to help local public schools revitalize their environment to promote a better learning experience and give the students a sense of pride in their establishment. Through the NYCares projects, events, and teams of volunteers, "we build community and make New York City a better place to live and work."
We had a beautiful, sunny day! One of the projects that needed to be accomplished was the painting of the outside fence. This fence surrounded 3/4 of the school building - it was a daunting task. With 45 volunteers on the fence, it took 4 hours to complete! But we did it! And a great time was had by all!
Thank you so very much to those who volunteered. I consider this event a huge success! I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did! I know the school, PS 203K, was incredibly appreciative of our efforts! I know the students will be so ecstatic when they come back to school this week! You can check out photos of the event here: NYCares Photos
If anyone has any ideas of future community volunteer events, please do let me know. Feel free to email me: riccleo@hotmail.com. I am always open for suggestions! Have a great upcoming holiday season!
