Mission of Student Ambassadors

The Student Ambassadors exist to build and reinforce the connections that foster relationships among B-W alumni and Baldwin-Wallace College by supporting the Advancement Office in pursuit of the College mission and by providing opportunities for the personal, social, professional and philanthropic growth of its members.

Q: What are the Student Ambassadors?

A: The Student Ambassadors represent the 30 of the most outgoing, involved, and engaged students on B-W’s campus. They are selected to be a diverse representation of the campus’s undergraduate population. They are a student organization whose purpose is to support the Advancement Office in its endeavors to grow the college’s Mission.

Q: What qualities does an ambassador possess?

A: A Student Ambassador is a person of high moral, social, and academic quality who wishes to assist with the advancement of the College’s Mission. A student Ambassador should have strong interpersonal skills developed through a diverse involvement in campus groups. All Student Ambassadors must have completed at least one semester of studybut not be in their last semester of study. Personal and professional appearance is important to the presentation of the student to the alumni and donors. Working well with inter-generational groups is key to success. As the busiest of students are sought to be Ambassadors, good time management is paramount to effective involvement. Having a clear self-awareness of an Ambassador’s faults and assets is central to group interaction. An overwhelming sense of school pride should be felt in general conversation with an Ambassador.

Q: What type of time commitment is it to be an ambassador?

A: Because Ambassadors tend to be the most involved and busiest students on campus, Student Ambassadors meet for 60 minutes each month and must volunteer for an average of 4 hours per month and one weekend per semester.

Q: What type of events are Student Ambassadors involved in?

A: Student Ambassadors work a variety of events including dinners at the Presidnet's home, Admission events, Alumni Weekend, Homecoming, Parent Weekend, and banquets honoring athletics, music, education and the arts. They serve at the call of the President joining him at his home to traveling on the road when possible
