The Seminar in Ecuador is an exciting study abroad program where students will spend 10 weeks of Fall 2009 in Ecuador (preceded by 6-weeks on campus). Students will spend time in Ecuador with excursions to the Galapagos Islands, the Andes Mountains, and the Amazon River. Students will have the opportunity to assess our rapidly evolving relationship to Latin America through first-hand exposure to the diverse people and physical environments of Ecuador's highlands, and coastal lowlands and the Amazonian rainforest. Students will begin their experience abroad living with Ecuadorian families, while intensively studying Spanish. Continuing through the semester they will examine the ecology, culture, history, economics, politics, and literature of Ecuador and the South American Andes. Previous knowledge of Spanish is not a prerequisite.
Specifics about the program and application materials are available in the Explorations/Study Abroad Center on the second floor of the Union.
