RECOMMENDED PROGRAMS
Option I- Travel abroad with B-W faculty or attend a B-W partner institution
Faculty-led Seminars
Travel with other Baldwin-Wallace students and B-W faculty members in a group study tour. Programs include Discover Iceland, Seminar in Europe, Seminar in Ecuador and more. Students pay current B-W tuition, room, and board plus a program fee which varies according to location and length of program.
Exchange Programs
Travel to B-W's partner institutions, including Hong Kong Baptist (China), Ewha University (S. Korea), Kansai Gaidai (Japan), American Business School Paris (France), Athlone Institute of Technology and Galway Mayo Institute of Technology (Ireland), and the University of Osnabrueck (Germany).
These programs involve an actual exchange of students. B-W students study at an overseas institution, while students from the overseas institution study at B-W. Each exchange program is limited to six (6) students per semester. Students pay current B-W tuition, room, and board. Students will receive B-W financial aid and all transfer credit earned for pre-approved courses.
Option II- Travel independently with a B-W recommended institution
B-W Recommended Partner Institutions
Students participate in B-W recommended off-campus programs. See Recommended Programs list. ( Return to Study Abroad Programs ) Students will receive B-W financial aid and all transfer credit for Pre-approved courses. Students pay B-W tuition, room and board plus any/all additional costs of program.
NOTE: Each Option II program is limited to six (6) students per semest
er (after the cap has been reached, a student may attend an Option II program: pay the actual cost of the program and will not receive B-W financial aid).
ALTERNATIVE PROGRAMS
Option III- Travel independently with a non-recommended institution/program
Students can participate in programs offered by third- party providers (i.e. IFSA, CEA, SIT, etc.) OR another American institution (i.e. Syracuse Abroad) to ensure academic quality and safety. Center for Explorations/Study Abroad will review all programs before permission is
granted. Students will receive 100% of Study Abroad Services (including assistance in course approval). Students pay the full cost of the program and a Study Abroad fee ($1000). Students forfeit all B-W institutional financial aid. Federal and State aid may still be available.
Option IV- Travel on your own
Any program that does not fit into the three options listed above cannot be supported by Baldwin-Wallace College. Students may design a personalized study abroad program. The following restrictions will apply:
- Students will not receive Study Abroad services or registration assistance and will not be required to pay the fee described in Option III.
- Students will apply directly to the program and will be billed directly by the program. Upon return, other B-W fees (i.e. translation of grades) will be the responsibility of the student.
- Course transfer is not guaranteed. Students will be responsible for gaining course credit upon return. Student will have to work with the registrar’s office and his/her advisor once the program has concluded. Student will supply course descriptions and syllabi for course approval.
- Students will pay program provider directly and will forfeit all B-W institutional aid, Federal aid and State aid.
NOTE: B-W cannot assume any responsibility/liability for students participating in Option IV.
