Make It Happen: Costs

Any countrycost_dollars.jpgProgram costs, including airfare, historically have run between $1000 and $3000 more than the cost of tuition, room, and board at B-W for one semester. A small price to pay for the experience of a lifetime! Financial aid and scholarships apply for recommended and faculty-led programs. In addition, students studying abroad for the first time may qualify for a small study abroad grant.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

If you are eligible for federal aid or receive institutional scholarships, you may use these resources to help fund B-W recommended off-campus programs. Once the cost of your program has been determined, the financial aid office will help you apply your aid package to your trip.

In addition to federal aid, other forms of financial assistance may be available. Public and private organizations, businesses, and churches often award grants, loans, and fellowships to students traveling abroad. Scholarships may be awarded on the basis of personal attributes (ethnic or religious background, parents' field of employment, place of residence, etc.), academic major, career path, or study abroad destination. It may take some detective work on your part, but extra funding is available. Here are a few good starting points:

You could also ask family and friends to help sponsor your trip by "investing" in this educational endeavor. Or instead of the usual holiday gifts, ask for luggage, sturdy footwear, a Eurorail pass, etc. Be creative! Look for assistance beyond the usual suspects.
