Explorations/Study Abroad

Fall 2007 Photo Contest Winner (Mick Steiner),
"India's Future"!!!

The Baldwin-Wallace College Explorations/Study Abroad Center is part of a larger effort to expand students’ learning context by linking the curriculum to the world beyond the classroom. While traveling throughout the world, students earn B-W credit for courses, independent study projects, and/or field experiences.   The Explorations/Study Abroad Center is staffed by:

Christie King Shrefler, MBA, Director
Patricia Otcasek, MBA,  Interim Asst. Director Judy Moore, Graduate Assistant
Amy Dawson, Student Assistant

We are available to help students through all of the stages of studying abroad--from researching the "perfect" host institution, assisting you through the application process, offering tips on packing to providing correspondence while abroad.  We'll also offer a session to help you re-adjust upon your return to Baldwin-Wallace. Each of us have traveled abroad in various capacities and we are eager to share our experiences with others. Stop by our office on the 2nd floor of the Strosacker College Union. We are open Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm during the school year and 8:30am-4:30pm in the summer.

Seminar in Europe group photo. 21 students and 2 faculty members study and travel
throughout Europe for 6 weeks during Spring semester.

"The idea of traveling to other countries as part of one’s higher education is nothing new. Scholars have been enriching their higher education through travel for centuries. What is different today is that study abroad is no longer a luxury for the rich, but instead, a reality for students who want to become prepared for the challenge of the twenty-first century."  -Bill Hoffa

"Studying abroad made me realize that I can do anything that I set my mind to do. I got to do things that I never imagined. I now have a more global perspective. It changed my life. I made many wonderful memories that will last a lifetime."-Becca Thomas, University of the Sunshine Coast

Our office is located on the 2nd floor of the Strosacker College Union.
