Un-Covering Old English Texts: Undergraduate Discovery of Anglo-Saxon Literature and Culture
Students from the Translating Anglo-Saxon Literature course offered in the Fall of 2001 have recieved a Gund Student Research grant to publish their translations of Anglo-Saxon literary works to the Web. The purpose of the project is twofold:
1. To demonstrate that it is possible for undergraduates to master Old English well enough to create accurate and sensitive translations of the literature
2. To provide unscholarly readers with appealing, accessible, and interesting versions of Old English literature.
Students who have worked on this project are Marcus Berndt, Erin Feick, Kelly Koehler, Christopher Rager, and Kelly Sowers. Daniel Remein is the current managing editor of the site. Click here to go to Uncovering Old English Texts.
We expect the project to be ongoing for future students of the course. For more information, contact Dr. Susan Oldrieve at 826-2291 or soldriev@bw.edu
