Baldwin-Wallace College is recognized for preparing teachers to be reflective decision makers who are contributing, compassionate, and competent educators.
B-W's licensure programs for adults seeking their initial teaching license are designed to meet the needs of tomorrow's classroom teachers -- building the foundations of lifelong learning and preparing students for the certainty of change.
The Licensure Only Program is a post-baccalaureate program for adults who hold a degree from B-W or another accredited college or university, and wish to earn an initial Ohio teaching license without completing a second bachelor's or master’s degree. The Licensure Only Program is undergraduate coursework only, and does not grant admission to the master’s program.
Teachers who wish to update their current license by adding another subject area or teaching field to meet state standards can also follow the licensure only curriculae outlined below.
B-W also offers the License+Master's Program for college graduates seeking the Master of Arts in Education degree along with an initial teaching license.

Program Requirements
“Model Program” sheets detailing the requirements for each teaching area in the Licensure Only program may be obtained online (click on the links above). Once enrolled, an academic advisor in the Division of Education works with each Licensure Only student and clarifies individual program requirements when previous college work may be considered as transfer credit. The Licensure Only advisor works with the various academic departments to determine transfer equivalencies for coursework taken at other accredited colleges and universities. Any education and psychology coursework transferred from other schools can not be more than ten years old.
The length of time it takes to complete the Licensure Only program varies depending on what the student wishes to teach and how much coursework applies from previous college work. Most students require at least two and a half years to complete the program. Many courses may be available evenings, so students often continue to work while attending Baldwin-Wallace part-time for the first few years. Students will need to complete professional methods coursework, their field experience and student teaching during the day. In addition, some teaching areas require extensive day coursework (math, sciences, health and physical education, foreign language, visual arts, music).
Candidates with a criminal record will not be eligible to complete the teacher licensure programs at Baldwin-Wallace College. The Education Division will not send a student into a school for observation, clinical practice or student teaching if he or she does not have a clear BCI check.
