edufac012.jpg Dr. Loudin is an assistant professor in the Division of Education in the area of literacy.  She received her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction in 1998 from Kent State University.  She is also certified as a PK-8 teacher.  She previously taught elementary education in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas.  She has worked with projects that fostered parental involvement in promoting children’s literacy development and researched the role of the family in both cognitive and emotional development.  She serves as coordinator of the Middle Childhood Program at Baldwin-Wallace College and is presently the director of the Summer Reading Program.  This program promotes the literacy development of area children/adolescents by combining assessment and individualized instruction employing teachers enrolled in the MAEd program.  In addition to literacy, she is also interested in the preparation of middle level teachers using interdisciplinary units, team teaching, and the infusion of technology to enhance literacy development across the curriculum.
