Course Description & Pre-Requisite Information:
Pre-requisite: Students must have prior content knowledge of the PMBOK ® Guide or have taken Project Management According to the PMBOK® Guide. This course is not a training program in Project Management methodology. Please see the Course Calendar for additional Project Management course offerings.
The PMP® Credential is one of the world’s most recognized professional credentials today. Achieving a PMI® credential affirms your dedication to and proficiency in the profession. Using a variety of learning activities, this 15 hour course enhances your preparation for taking the PMP® exam. This course will review components of the PMBOK® Guide critical to passing the exam, provide sample exam questions during class and as well as provide tips and strategies to use during the exam. Course includes pre-reading and advance assignments. For this reason, registration deadline is 10 calendar days before the start of the course. Materials, which include a textbook and advance assignment information, will be mailed to participants upon registration. Textbook:PMP® Exam Prep by Rita Mulcahy. Participants receive a study guide/workbook at first class meeting.
Course Objectives:
- Be able to apply a structured approach in preparing for the PMP exam
- Understand how the exam will test your knowledge of the PMBOK®
- Learn strategies specifically directed to passing the PMP exam
- Test your knowledge through application of practice test questions
- Identify any gaps in your knowledge that you need to fill before taking the exam
Target Audience: Individuals seeking to achieve the PMP® credential. The optional PMP® Exam is a separate fee and process through the Project Management Institute (PMI®).

To achieve PMP® certification a candidate must satisfy all education and experiential requirements established by the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and demonstrate a level of understanding and knowledge of project management. You must also meet the following requirements of either category below: |
| CATEGORY 1: |
| 1. Achieved a baccalaureate degree or better; 2. A minimum of 4, 500 hours of project management experience within the five project management process groups within the six-year period prior to application; 3. Obtain 35 contact hours of project management education. |
| CATEGORY 2: |
| 1. Does not hold a baccalaureate degree or global equivalent university degree, but holds a high school diploma or equivalent secondary school credential; 2. A minimum of 7, 500 hours of project management experience within the five project management process groups, within the eight-year period prior to the application. Candidates who hold an associate’s degree should also apply in this category; 3. Obtain 35 contact hours of project management education. |
