Providing the major gift to make possible a stunning makeover of Jacob O. Kamm Hall at Baldwin-Wallace College was a pretty obvious thing for Stephen Boesel '68, to do.
“My time at Baldwin-Wallace was very important me,” said Boesel, a B-W trustee and former vice president and fund manager for T. Rowe Price Group, Inc. “I truly believe that any success that I have had is the product of the people, the professors like Al Gray, and the programs that I encountered there.”
“I also think that it is important for us to give back to those who've helped us. To me this was one more opportunity to say ?thank you' for the experiences and the preparation that I received at Baldwin-Wallace College.
Boesel, who retired this summer, spent 33 years with T. Rowe Price. His place as one of the nation's leading fund managers has been noted in the Wall Street Journal and by others. A recent article in the Baltimore Sun said that Boesel “helped shepherd Price's Capital Appreciation Fund through some tumultuous times on Wall Street, and for 15 years in a row the fund hasn't lost a penny. It's the only stock fund in the nation that can make that claim.”
His business mantra always has been, “If you take good care of your clients, they will take care of you.” That philosophy, which respects the individual, is a quality he admires and looks for in others. “I've always thought that if you genuinely respect people, life seems to go a lot easier,” he said.
