"From Scarcity to Prosperity"
The story of an Indian Entrepreneur

Tuesday, November 18, 2008 8:00 p.m.
Strosacker College Union

Randeep Jauhar, CEO of Jamna Auto Industries (JAI), leads a global manufacturing company of leaf and parabolic springs that has 65% of India's car and truck market, which is the third largest in the world. Randeep has transformed Jamna from a single location, single product, $3 million dollar company into a $200 million dollar multi-locational, multi-national, multi-product company.  Jamna is aided by India's economic growth.  By 2050, India is expected to be the world's third largest economy.  Jamna is among the top five spring manufacturers of the world and aims to counted among the top two by 2009.  The company has relationships with NHK Japan, Tinsley Bridge Ltd., U.K. and has developed spring from black box stage for Hummer in the U.S., Ford in Europe, and re-designed Toyota springs in India.

Randeep has a wonderful family history that mirror's the story of India.  The family has confronted challenges of scarcity and limited opportunity prior to becoming successful on a global scale.  For this reason, the family has been a strong supporter of Gura Nanak Khalsa Educational Institution.  Since the 1960's, Randeep's father supported the institutions mission to teach bright students with limited advantages the technical and business skills needed to grow India's economy.  Currently, Randeep is the Managing Committee Member of the College.  He has participated in the Himalayan Car Race and finished second in the unmodified category.  He is also a trap shooter and won the National Shooting Championship.

We invite you to hear Randeep's story to understand India's story.  Randeep will intertwine his families start and growth of JAI as a vehicle to learn how a once modest economy has become one of the world's fastest emerging economies and why it is sustainable.

The event is free and open to the public.
